After a long bus ride from Ravenna, we arrived at our lodging. This was the gorgeous Villa Pambuffetti. Our hosts Alessandra and Mauro (a different Mauro), greeted us. Alessandra told the history of this property. It was built by a nobleman in the 1800s and her family took ownership in 1939. The property was restored in the late 1980s and most of the existing furniture was retained when possible. We had a toast with a glass of prosecco on the lovely patio.
This was our favorite hotel room on the trip. We had gorgeous views of the valley from our window, plus the room was enormous with lots of seating, a very comfortable bed, and an ornate chandelier!

It was a short walk up a hill into the medieval city of Montefalco. Here are some nighttime shots of its main street and of the Montefalco Town Hall (built in 1270) and its lovely arches (added in the 15th Century).
William and I had a great dinner at Olevm (pronounced “oh-le-oom). We started with three different olive oils and toast and three varieties of Pecorino Romano and a mascarpone cheese. My dinner was a cheese ravioli with crushed tomatoes and black truffles. William’s dinner was a delicious tortellini with Grana Padana sauce topped with toasted almonds and black truffles, accompanied by a local wine (Sagrantino). For dessert, we enjoyed “hot chocolate” cake and vanilla gelato. Delicioso!
